It can take anywhere from 6 – 12 hours for carpets to completely dry, how quickly carpets dry varies from home to home and will depend on the airflow in the home, humidity level and temperature of the room. We recommend turning on the central fan of your home to promote airflow and aid in the drying process.
A room is up to 200sqt, combination areas and L shaped rooms are considered 2 areas. For finished basement carpet we recommend using the same number of rooms that is on your middle floor as a guide when determining how many rooms you have in the basement. Stairs are charged separately; a flight of stairs is up to 13 steps and does include landings and hallways.
We recommend removing all small items and furniture off the carpets you would like for us to get under, we also suggest doing a light vacuuming of the traffic areas to remove as much dry soil as possible, we also recommend leaving an open spot in the driveway closest to the home for us to park. We will be starting at the furthest room from the front door so we recommend having that room at least prepared for us prior to our arrival.
Screening is where we abrade or scuff up the hardwood floor to remove the old finish and to prepare it for a new coat of finish. This process removes light scratches and smooths the floors, it also adds protection to the floors which will extend the life of the floors and prevent the need for a full sand and refinishing.
Screening and recoating your hardwood floors allow you to refresh your hardwood floors without the inconvenience and cost associated with a sand and refinishing. With this process you have the option to change the sheen level of the floors, you can choose from a Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Satin and Matte finish. For homes with very high traffic and pets it can add more protection to the floors and extend the life of the floors and delay the need for a complete sand and refinishing.
A screen and recoat would not be recommended if you have deep scratches, dents and gauges that have penetrated down into the wood, or very worn areas that are starting to look gray in the floors. Screen and recoat will not address sun fading or discoloration, the same goes for color changes. In order to change the color of your floors, you would need to have to sand the floors completely down to raw hardwood for stain absorption.
